HEAT

1. Olivia and Douglas are a married couple, I guess they belong to the upper-class, they have servants. Olivia is definetly from England. I think Douglas is an offical.

2. They are in India because the story of Heat and Dust takes place in India

3. Olivia is worried about the fact that Douglas smokes although it´s hot. She can´t get along with the heat I guess. Douglas says that she should have gone to Simla. Olivia answers that this would have been boring. She seems unhappy.

4. Olivia doesn´t know what´s wrong with her, Douglas presumes that she can´t get along with the heat.

5. The heat can have an effect in emotions. I experienced it during a trip to Roma 3 years ago. It was nearly 40 degree and I had to walk through the city and to visit ruins. There was no shadow and no air draft. It was horrible. I was in a bad mood the whole day because it was so exhausting and I sweated and had to go on. I wasn´t able to enjoy the trip completely.

DUST

1.I think that it must be very boring and it creates a feeling of loneliness. You can´t relax because there is so much dust, I guess it´s really uncomfortable.

2. I wouldn´t travel there because it´s to hot and there is too much dust. You can´t relax there, I´m not adapted for extreme heat I would feel uncomfortable there.
